Thank you for visiting us! I am a board certified psychiatrist through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I completed my adult psychiatry residency at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota and my fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Washington/Seattle Children’s hospital in Seattle, Washington. I am a member of various professional organizations such as the American Psychiatric association and the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Please click here to view my CV.
In addition to my training in adult and child & adolescent psychiatry, Psychodermatology is my area of specialization and research. Disorders such as trichotillomania, skin picking and psychogenic itching are some of the issues in this field I am deeply interested in. Along with medication management, I also utilize other modalities of treatment, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, supportive psychotherapy, and habit reversal therapy.
My treatment philosophy includes a bio-psycho-social model, putting greater emphasis on exploring the factors leading to the current problem- in the context of family, interpersonal relationships, and various other psychosocial stressors. Medications are often a very important part of the treatment, but work more effectively in combination with therapy. My approach towards medications in children and adolescents is conservative. When psychotherapy and behavioral interventions are not proven helpful, then medications could be administered in a minimal dose.
